Simon Cotterell
Simon is an adviser to the Council for Intellectual Disability.
Before joining CID, Simon worked in the Commonwealth public service, including 20 years in the Department of Health and Aged Care. Simon developed a program of work on disability health, leading the development of the National Roadmap on Improving the Health of People with Intellectual Disability and chairing the COVID-19 Disability Advisory Committee.
Simon delivered the Primary Health Care 10 Year Plan and Strengthening Medicare Taskforce report, the Medicare Urgent Care Clinics and the MyMedicare system of voluntary patient registration. In 2012 Simon was awarded a Public Service Medal for his work on tobacco control in First Nations communities.
